The naturalistic areas surrounding Hotel Ciampedie and Val di Fassa contain unique wonders all to be discovered through trekking and hiking.

You can choose between extreme treks and quiet trails all of which are exciting both from a naturalistic and historical point of view. The discovery of the Fassa Valley begins here.

San Nicolò Valley

A beautiful trek at the foot of the Buffaure

San Nicolò valley is located in the Dolomites next to the largest water catchment area of the Fassa Valley. It’s entirely located in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa. Nearby flows the Rio di San Nicolò, which originates from the locality of Jonta, famous for its waterfalls.

The Fuciade Valley

An easy path between huts and breath taking views

Beautiful walk, in a large green valley, dotted with pretty and ancient huts, and with wide and beautiful views, along a comfortable path that leads to the Fuciade refuge without particular effort.

The Piz Boè is one of the 3.000 less difficult in the Dolomites regarding technical difficulties and the difference in altitude to be covered: the cable car that starts from the Pordoi pass allows, in fact, to reach the altitude of 2.950 m of the Sass Pordoi in just a few minutes. However, the access route is not unique: there can be at least 4 with different degrees of difficulty.

The fixed rope of Masarè is one of the most beautiful fixed rope tours in the Dolomites. It leads to the southern ridge of the Catinaccio massif. The hiker enjoys a marvelous view towards both sides of the mountain, over the valley and towards the surrounding Dolomite peaks.

The Sassolungo group extends in its round shape between the Sella and the Catinaccio. The highest peak that gives its name to the whole group is the Sassolungo with 3.181 m a.s.l. Its surface, together with its south-west peak, adds up almost half of the entire mountain range.

From the Ciampedie plateau, climb to the Preuss and Vajolet refuges, and continue in the Valle del Principe, to a refuge into Catinaccio group’s heart.
